SLJ Week 2 Activity 16

LI: To create a presentation showcasing a phrase

For this task we had to create a phrase by choosing to create one on the perspective of a character in the story "Maui and the Sun" We were able to use the phrase in a song, poem, ect. The presentation shown above showcases haiku that tell the story of how Maui slowed the sun. I decided to create a series of Haikus that tell the story of Maui and the sun I have written it in both English and Maori. I decided to create a series of haikus to to tell the story becuase it was one of the tasks for the week 1 challenges for the Summer Learning Journey.

This was really fun to do becuase I really enjoyed writing theese poems becuase this was a different kind of theme I liked it also becuase it told a story. One thing I found tricky was trying to use the haiku strucer to tell the story as I could not include some other important details that were told in the original story.

SLJ Week 2 Activity 15

LI: To create a song about kiwi jingle bell song

For this activity we had to create our own jingle bell song but kiwi style meaning creating a song that showcases objects, people, places, and events that are unique to New Zealand. We had to come up with our own lyrics for our kiwi jingle bell song that could be accompanied with picture or illustrations that can relate to our song. The first thing did was research more about New Zealand Christmas traditions so that it could help me when I make my song after that I then watched a video called "Kiwi Christmas Story" to get help and to get some more ideas of what I could write about it I then used what I had learnt from the video and website.

This activity was really fun becuase it was really fun to write a song and writing it about a kiwi Christmas made it more easier becuase it was something that I know about very well. I found this activity a little bit tricky becuase it was hard to think of what to write and make it fit within the topic and to try and make it ryme but other than that I found it really fun to do.

SLJ Activity 14 Week 2 | Kick start and Step it up

Kick Start

LI: To learn about pigpen cipher

For this activity I watched a video about what to do and also learnt about different codes and ciphers the one I watched about was about the pigpen code after that I had to use what I learnt from the video that i watched and based off of the information that I learnt to write a sentence using the pigpen code to write clues about our favorite beach I wrote my clue about my favorite beach in pigpen on a draw.

One interesting thing that I learnt while completing the activity was how the pig pen code works it uses a total of 4 different grids and in each grid has the letters of the alphabet and uses the line that are surrounded by the letter.  I really enjoyed doing the kick start activity becuase I also learnt about different codes and ciphers and how to Encrypt and Decrypt using them. One thing that I found a little bit tricky was decrypting becuase I got some of the letters mistaken for other characters.

Step It Up

LI:  To create a screencastify video explaining how to Encrypt and Decrypt ciphers.

For the Step It Up challenge the task was to create a screencastify video explaining how to Encrypt and Decrypt using one of the cipher of our choice I chose to make a video about the Caesar Cipher here I have also created a DLO about how the Caesar Cipher works and also how to encrypt and decrypt and I have also created my own messages in the Caesar Cipher for others to try and figure out and to comment there answers.

I really enjoyed completing the Step It Up activity becuase I enjoyed trying out something new and really enjoyed learning about codes and ciphers. During this activity I learnt about how to Encrypt and Decrypt and found It fun to do so.

SLJ Activity 13 Week 2

LI: To create our own Christmas themed outfit.

Today's task was to create an outfit on a draw that can relate to your cultures I did this be reading a book called Hana koko this book was about a father who created his own personalized Santa costume for  New Zealand. Had to create an out fit that fits into the theme of Christmas and resembles some parts of your culture. I crates the traditional clothes and I used some of the festive colors of Christmas . I created the Traditional Ie Faitaga is what the men where like wrap around skirt. and can be worn with jandals and a shirt of choice but I chose a Polo shirt.

This task was very fun to do becuase I liked combing the two things into one Christmas and culture becuase it was cool to see the end product of what I made I found it really fun to do.

SLJ Activity 12 Week 2

LI: To create an Xylophone made from paper.

Today's challenge was to create an xylophone using glasses of water and rolled up paper. The first thing I did was watch the instructional video that nano girl created of her showing us about how to make the xylophones. I first made the paper xylophone by rolling up some pieces of colored paper and I think started hitting them. The longer tubes created a more deeper sound and the shorter tubes created a higher pitch than the longer ones.

After that I moved on to using glasses of water to create the same effect by creating high and low pitches like the paper xylophone. For this I had to pour water into the glasses but they must be all different amounts of water used four cups and poured in the water and then tapped on the glasses I heard the lower and high pitches the glasses with less water gave a higher pitch and the glasses with more water had a lower pitch this is because the cups with more water had less space for the vibrations to travel cause the vibration stopped at wherever the water is at.

Something that I have noticed when creating the paper xylophones is that when I used a mix of thinner and thicker paper the thinner paper did not produce a clear sound the sound was not as strong while the thicker paper gave off a more stronger sound and I could hear it more clearly. I really enjoyed doing this activity becuase it is something new that I have note tried before and becuase I learnt alot of new things during the activity.

SLJ Week 1 Acticity 10

LI: To write our own summer themed haiku

Today's challenge was to write our own haiku our theme was summer since it is the them for the Summer Learning Journey. A haiku is a type of poetry that has three lines in it that make it a haiku  the structure of the Haiku is 5-7-5 because the first line must have only 5 syllables and second line should only have 7 syllables and the ending line must only have 5 syllables.

The first thing I did was watch a video of how a haiku is structured and then used what I learnt from the video to try and write my own I also looked for examples of summer themed haiku's to get some ideas of what I could write. I had to use this template to create my poem and find an image to match the theme of the poem.

SLJ Week 1 Acticity 9 | Kick Start & Step It up

LI: To find which one does not belong

Today's challenge I had to find which on did not belong. The activity was to look at four images that were named A,B,C and D. I had to try to figure out which one does not belong based on what I saw from the images for example its B becuase its the only dog with brown fur. So we had to do this through out and record our answers on the presentation. I have included the Kick start and the Step it up challenges the kick start task was to find out which one does not belong and record our findings. The step its up task was to try and create our own which one doesn't belong by find our own photos to challenge others.

SLJ Week 1 Acticity 8 | Kick Start and Step it up

LI: To create our own chorus of our choice

Today's challenge was to create our own chorus I watched a video explaining what to do fro this activity and I also watched Mangere college "We Will Rise" song  and listened to there chorus to get some ideas to create or own. Mangere college's chorus for there song goes like this: And we will rise (strong minds, strong hearts) And we will rise (we all play a part) And we will rise, we’ll never stop, Climb that mountain ‘til we  reach the top Seek the heights, seek the heights Seek the heights, seek the heights.

My chorus verse is about our school Panmure Bridge School. And about how we can achieve our goals/dreams by working as a team and having a strong goal to try and achieve it. I found this activity fun to do becuase writing a chorus was something new that I had not tried before and was fun through out the challenge.

The step it up challenge was to create a screencastify video of us reading/singing our chorus that we made. The video above is a recording of me reading out the chorus that I made.

SLJ Week 1 Acticity 7

LI: To expand our  Maori vocabulary

Today for this activity we were given the chance to expand our Te reo Maori Vocabulary and learn how to say sentences and phrases by listening to the audio recordings and then used what we could remember from the recordings we had to rearrange the words to create a question in Maori. I then answered the question "What are you doing today?" by filling in the blanks to "I am going to ____ " and then filled in the blanks

During the activity I learnt how to say "What are you doing today" from the rearrange task. "What are you doing today" tranlated into Maori is Kei te aha koe i tenei ra? I found this activity fun to do becuase It helped me improve on my Maori a little bit more and listening to the recordings  and doing the rearranging activity made it a bit easier to understand.

SLJ Week 1 Activty 6

LI: To create a optical illusion

Today this activity was to create our own optical illusion and optical illusion is a picture that is something that tricks our brain and something that cannot be seen by the naked eye. This challenge wanted us to create or own optical illusion with paper and pencil or creating digital illusion. I created my illusion digitally on a google draw. my illusion has columns of black and white squares that go horizontal and are not alinged corectly.

SLJ Week 1 Activty 5

LI: To create a kowhaiwhai pattern to represent summer

Today I learnt that when it is very hot and the air is shimmering Tānerore performs the haka for his mother, Hine-Raumati. This happens in summer as the land heats up. Our challenge was to think about this while we designed our own kowhaiwhai pattern to represent summer. My pattern shows a flower in the middle that is shaped with a series of korus. I also used the korus to surround the left and right sides I also made the both sided symmetrical. I found this activity fun becuase I really liked making the kowhaiwhai pattern

SLJ Week 1 Activty 4

LI: To create a piece of insect art

Inspired by art creations by Raku Inoue we went outside and collected leaves, twigs, and other plant debris to create our own insect images.  The first thing we did was watch a video of an artist who has a lot of experience doing this type of art the bug that I chose to create a cicadas I used twigs and leaves that I found around the school and for the legs I used a theese black beans that grew around the playground.  I found this a little bit hard becuase I had to find things that would go for the design that I was trying to vision. but other than that it was really fun to try a different type of art.

Tuesday, 15 December 2020

SLJ Week 1 Activity 3

LI: To create your own comic strip of an imaginary conversation.

My comic strip shows the conversation I imagine these two people had after one of the men had sneezed his teeth into the sea during a fishing trip. That task was to watch a video and turn it into a comic strip and try to imagine what they are saying by using the comic strip template. I found this activity fun becuase I got to be creative becuase I imagined what they were saying by just watching the video that had no words in it.

SLJ Week 1 Activity 2

LI: To write a quality blog comment on someone else’s blog that starts a rich learning conversation.

Leaving a quality blog comment on another  student’s blog helps us make connections to new learning by asking open ended questions that encourage a reply and motivate the blogger to ask their own question in return. This is how a comment thread starts and when that happens we make connections with a wider audience who we can learn with and from. I commented on Jessie's blog who goes to Glenn Innes Primary school about the treasure hunt activity she made two videos and explained about all the materials she gathered.

SLJ Week 1 Activity 1

LI: To collect materials needed to successfully complete our weekly superpower building missions with Nano Girl.

This morning LS2 worked in groups with our Year 4 students to help them create their first Summer Learning Journey blog posts. PBS are still at school this week so finding some of the materials we needed for our treasure hunt was easy. Our challenge is going to be able to find all the materials we need at home now. All of the materials that we needed to find we got from the video from Nano girl and the slide presentation above showcases a video of me and my partner explains why we needed to find the materials and photos of the equipment. I found this activity really enjoyable and fun becuase we got to find the equipment and we also had to be smart and try to find better alternatives. I look forward to creating something with the gathered materials. Have you been through any of nano girls activities and what have you made?

Christmas Board Game

LI: To create a digital board game for the juniors.

In this DLO shown above, LS2 had the and opportunity, to create a board game using Google Draws. The main purpose was to entertain the juniors. We first saw an exemplar of this, so we could get a clear idea of what we were doing. I chose to create a game of snakes and ladders. The only twist with these board games, was that we had to make them Christmas themed. The main characters for my story was Santa Claus looking for his Reindeer. This can relate to Christmas becuase it show Santa Claus which is a iconic name spread around in the time of Christmas.

Christmas Operation Drop

L.I to learn and inform others about Operation Christmas Drop.

The Operation Christmas Drop is the longest humanitarian aid, that has been created to help impact others life's from remote islands. The Anderson Force, Japanese and Australian forces, have allied together to create a box full of supplies that the islands will need to survive. These forces has also partnered up with businesses to get these resources. These boxes are mainly dropped to islands near Guam(a U.S Territory island). These are often dropped around Christmas. Fau and I had learnt a lot from this. We found it really interesting that it has been running for 68 years.

Decorating the tree

LI: To decorate the office Christmas tree

The purpose of our Design Technology challenge was to create a set of Christmas/Holiday decorations that respresented our school and the people in it. We were given a design brief from Mr Johnston and a delivery date. To celebrate the end of this challenge LS2 delivered their completed decorations to Mr Johnston, then hung them on the tree in our school office. The decoration that we made were to represent us all and to show us altogether using the different celebrations and the cultures that some of the students celebrate and also using colors that are most used or seen on the holiday.

Illustrated Story

LI: To write a porquoi (tell me why or how) story that paints a picture in the mind of the reader.

Our challenge this week was to create a porquoi story that we would illustrate and share with our junior classes. A porquoi story tells us why something is the way it is. Our story tells why/how… This morning we shared our stories with Room 2 and Room 4, and they loved listening to them. I enjoyed creating the images and writing the porquoi story because I got to be creative with the story and using creative ideas to create the story as a group and creating the pictures was also enjoyable becuase we also got to be creative with the colors and the shapes that we used in our comic book.

Design Technology Challenge

LI: To design and make a holiday decoration that fits the client brief.

For the past few weeks we have been working on creating Christmas decorations for our client with is Mr Johnston that he will put up on the Christmas tree in our school office. We made DLOs that showed what we were creating and the process that we had to go through. We then moved on to choosing a celebrations and then planning all the parts and dressings that we need to sew together. We used 2 different types of sewing which are the running stitch and blanket stitch. We first had to cut out the 2 main pieces of the decorations (10 cm) and then cut out any other details that are going to go on top of the main body of the decoration then stitch it together a running stitch. After that we stitched the 2 main bodies with a blanket stitch but leaving enough room for the stuffing to go through and be filled. We also evaluated our work by listing the positives and improvements. We answered questions that helped us understand more about what we learnt  through the design process.

Art Colouring Book - Step it up Challenge

LI: To use TEEL paragraphs to explain our colour choice

Recolored

Original

Art can tell stories and diiferent meanings depending on what colors they use and what elements they use the elements of art are important becuase to can tell us how they felt when making the art or what type of mood that are trying to show us. when the elements of art are all combined you can create an excellent peiece of art the can show a story. line, shape, texture, form, space, colour and value.

Lines are used in nearly all forms of art the lines can be wavy or straight depending on what type of art you are doing, Shapes are also a common element to use in art if they are polygons circles or geometric shapes. Texture is also as important becuase it can give the art depth and make it look more realistic. Form is when 3d art or 2d art look like they take up sapce. Space is distance or area  between around above and within the art. Color can help show space in art and helps us shade our texture.

Tech - Science

LI: To create a blog post explaining our tech session

This morning we had our last tech session with Mrs Sharma we learnt about Plant - Food makers. we talked about plants, we had to answer questions that she gave us from what we know about plants. We learnt about how plants grow, how they feed them selfs, why they are important to animals, and listed 5 plants that we eat and also why we eat them. We then talked about herbivores, carnivorous, and omnivorous and what they eat and list all the animals that go under the categories. We then had to collect 10 leaves that we found around the school. we then taped them to our work books and then we had to mesure how long it was and also record the texture, color ,thickness, and the paterns. we recorded them in our workbooks.

Art Colouring Book

 LI: To experiment with colours.

                                                                            Recolored

Original

This morning we tried one of this year’s Kick Start Summer Learning Journey activities. The purpose of this task was to experiment with colours by mixing colours from the original palette with pop colours. This allowed us to recoluor famous painting or images of landmarks around the world. The painting that I recoloured is a famous painting called the Under the Wave off Kanagawa (Kanagawa oki nami ura), also known as The Great Wave. The painting was painted by Hokusai, this is one of my  favorite paintings becuase it shows alot of cool colors and uses shading.

Te Whanau Raukura Performance

Today only some of the people from Te Whanau Raukura group came to Panmure Bridge School and performed for us. While they performed that also shared some information that we could learn from about the Maori culture and they told us about the weaponry and the tools that they used for dancing. The first thing that they told us about is conch they used it as they entered the hall and told us that it was used to welcome visitors but they used it to enter. the next thing they told us about was that taiaha it was a weapon that they used to kill with. The weapon consisted of a carved on face with a tongue sticking out this part of the weapon was used to intimidate and there was a feathered part warped around the end that was used for distraction. A Poi was used by males to increase their flexibility, build co-ordination and upper body strength for battle, but as the Maori culture grew, it then became a female traditon as a form of comfort or welcoming. The next Item that was introduced was the Taiaha. The Taiaha was used in war. The feathery part of the Taiaha was used as a distraction, so taht they could use the would to bruise the enemy. As a gift in return the boys from PBS Kapa Haka group, peformed a Haka in return. After this Peformance, Becca, from the Kapahaka group, came into our class-room and taught us a game called Pukana.

Exploring our national current events

LI: To identify author’s purpose.

Today for reading LS2 created google maps exploring our national current events meaning events that are taking place currently right now and in New Zealand. Each day, newspaper editors around the world must make desicions about which stories they will run. We explored the different types of current events that are happening in New Zealand, thought about why the story made the news and plotted the location on a google map. We had to find articles and the reasons for why the author wrote about it. We then had to find the place on the maps and fin the location and a summary of what took place in that area.

Categories
  • Timeliness -- News that is happening right now, news of interest to readers right now.
  • Relevance -- The story happened nearby or is about a concern of local interest.
  • Magnitude -- The story is great in size or number; for example, a tornado that destroys a couple houses might not make the news but a story about a tornado that devastates a community would be very newsworthy.
  • Unexpectedness -- Something unusual, or something that occurs without warning.
  • Impact -- News that will affect a large number of readers.
  • Reference to someone famous or important -- News about a prominent person or personality.
  • Oddity -- A unique or unusual situation.
  • Conflict -- A major struggle in the news.
  • Reference to something negative -- Bad news often "sells" better than good news.
  • Continuity -- A follow-up or continuation to a story that has been in the news or is familiar.
  • Emotions -- Emotions (such as fear, jealousy, love, or hate) increase interest in a story.
  • Progress -- News of new hope, new achievement, new improvements

Provocation: Should masks be compulsory on NZ public transport?

LI: To identify and consider the two perspectives of this provocation to help me form an opinion.

A provocation is an action or speech that triggers strong feelings about a topic. Today we considered both sides of the provocation, ‘Should masks be compulsory on NZ public transport?’ We then used that information to help us form an opinion that we could justify with evidence. In my opinion I think that wearing a face mask in public transport should be a mandatory requirement as it helps us prevent getting anymore new cases of Covid-19. I think that this is something that will help us and will not have a bad affect rather a good one.

Reading

LI: To unpack the meaning of The Charge of the Light Brigade poem

Today for reading we learnt about the poem called The Charge of the Light Brigade which was written by Alfred Tennyson. It is a ballad poem. A ballad poem is a poem that tells a story. The Light Brigade is a poem about is about the Crimean war that lasted for 11 months. At the war there were 600 men who had no choice but to join even if they were to survive or die. This poem was about the light brigade, the light brigade was a failed military charge in the Crimean war from the British against the Russians. The Crimean war were fought by the British and Turkish forces against the Russia, the war was fought due to Russian pressure of turkey.

Maths

This week in maths Afatia, Lukah, Rj, Haylee and I created a DLO about our challenge we did in Maths. Our maths challenges were based on our weight since we have been learning about weight. We solved three separate word problems and we chose one challenge to create a DLO about, the word problem for challenge 3 was How many rhinoceroses, lions, giraffes, or hippopotamuses weigh the same as an elephant? We explained our strategy on how we got the answer. Our problem was to figure out the combination of animals to match the weight of an elephant.

Science tech

LI: To test and conduct our own experiments with our own knowledge of rocket science.

Today LS2 year 7s  went to tech and did science with Mrs Shamma and Mr Dunn and we learnt about rocket science and we made straw/blow rockets with plastic straws. but before we did this we did a brainstorm of words with Mrs Shamma, some of the words we wrote down  were Gravity, thrust, push, force, action and reaction and fins. We then worked with Mr Dunn and we bade straw rockets the first thing we did was to bend the tip of the larger straw and we made sure that we used a reasonable amount of tape or else it will add to the weight of our rocket, it is good to create a lighter rocket ship so that it can fly further. So we tried blowing our rocket without fins becuase our question was How many fins do we need for our rocket ships.

After that we created a hypothesis or prediction of how many fins that was suitable for our rockets. We tested our rocket with no fins 3 times and recorded our data in our work books, we then taped paper fins that we cut out onto the larger straw and tested the rocket with 2 fins 3 times and recorded our distances and we lastly tested our rockets with only 4 fins and tested 3 times and took record and the after that we had competition with all year 7 students to see who would get the furthest distance and the 3 winners would win a prize.

Why is it important to use the CARE values

LI: To write an explanation using TEEL paragraphs.

This week we have been revising explanation writing. Next week is our assessment week so we did this collaborative challenge to remind ourselves what is needed when we write explanations the structure that we are using to write an explanation is TEEl. T stands for topic sentence to hook the reader in make them interested, E stands for elaborate or provide more information about the topic sentence E stands for evidence give some evidence about the topic to strengthen the paragraph.  For this task we worked collaboratively together to create an explanation about why is it important to use the CARE values. Our CARE values at Panmure bridge school are Confident, Attitude, Respect, and Excellence and Innovations. We then created a voice recording of our whole group reading our paragraphs aloud.

Fractions with Mr Fisi'iahi

LI: To learn how to group and split in fractions

This week is our last session with Mr Fisi’iahi for this term as it was last week. For this week my group and I worked on fractions and played a game called Play tower of hanoi. We also used Multi Link cubes to help us understand fractions and to help us solve the questions. I really enjoyed playing with my partner solving fraction questions. We also played a game called Dicy numbers which got us into parnters. This game was really fun and competitive as we had to see who was the first one to win.

Explanation | Making wise choices

LI: To structure and write an explanation

Why is it important to make wise choices?

Have you ever thought about taking drugs or drinking alcohol or has someone ever forced you or wanted

you to do it?  Some of the major reasons people take drugs is to try to fit in or to feel cool or they go through

peer pressure and end up using drugs, Peer pressure, being pressured by a friend or peer to do something that

you know that is unwise and can have a bad impact on you.

People who take drugs such as Crack, Weed, or  Cocaine use it to feel happy or as a stress reliever to help

forget about something bad that they have experienced but sadly the effects of these drugs do not last very

long so as a result people become addicted and are focused on getting more to feed there hunger in other

words drugs become there number one priority. When people get addicted they will do anything to feed

there hunger. They are tempted to steal money if they run out of it or they will work for people and in return

they get what they want but the consequences are not ideal.

Making a wrong decision doesn't necessarily mean that you are a bad person but is about who you should

start focus on becoming. Taking drugs can also affect your mindset/ way you think can lead to depression

or start to feel anxiety but if younger pupils start to take drugs the side effects could be more harmful the

addiction could be enhanced or feel stronger but younger pupils can also say no and can try avoid these

unwise choices knowing the bad impacts that they can have on there mental and physical health.

This week for writing we wrote explanations about making wise choices about taking drugs and alcohol and the side effects and consequences of these actions I chose this topic becuase I can use the information gathered from our DARE program. I have learnt the drugs can be a dangerous substance that can be very addictive that can harm our physical and mental body that can effect others that are around us.

Inquiry

LI: To decide which political party will get your vote by making an informed choice

To decide which political party I would vote for I read a summary of the policies each party wants to introduce should they win the election and the right to form a government to run NZ. Doing this allowed me to make an informed decision.

App

LI: To create a bilingual app of Maori and English.

This week is Maori Language Week. In LS2 we were given different challenges to accomplish relating to Te reo maori. This is one of 3 challenges. For this activity Juel, Sulia, Heavenly and I created a interactive DLO, also known as a digital app. In this DLO we included different questions relating to Maori. This DLO was made to help others learn some words, numbers, places, and object names in Maori. There are different buttons on the DLO that are there in order to click and move around the DLO more easily.

Whakatauki

LI:  To define a whakatauki in your own words.

Sulia, Juel, Heavenly and I have completed our 2nd activity. For this activity we created a DLO explaining what we thought the whakatauki meant in our words. The whakatauki we chose was 'Long on words, short on actions'. In my opinion I thought this meaning that people keep saying things but doesn't actually accomplish or complete it. A whakatauki is a significant saying or proverb.

History

LI: To identify the history of Maori Language Week.

This week me and my group have completed another Te Wiki o te reo maori challenge. For this challenge Juel, Sulia, Heavenly and I created a google slide deck explaining the importance and history of Maori language Week. In 1975, Maori Language week was marked an official language week in Aotearoa ( New Zealand ). Although there was a language week, the people from the Maori community protested to have Maori language taught in schools to keep the culture going. This was acknowledged in the 1980s. In 1985 Maori Language was one of the official languages of NZ.

DARE to make a choice

LI: To create a DLO about making wise choices

This week was our last day doing the DARE program. We had 3 different tasks. The first one was to sort out all the different drugs good and bad into 3 different columns of illegal drugs, legal drugs and drugs that we are unsure of, then sort them out from most harmful and harmful drugs. The second task was to learn about the 3 classes of drugs including class A being the highest and B and then C the penalties that come with being caught with the drugs, the last task was to create our own penalties with 6 different scenarios that we were given.

The most interesting thing that I learnt  was that chocolate was a Drug.

The most interesting thing that I learnt was that drugs can be found in everyday things like chocolate and milo ect.

Tech: Science with Mrs Sharma

LI: To identify the the different types and uses of plastic.

This week for tech the year 7s at Panmure Bridge School  learned about the different types of plastics. We also learned about Plastic, material, wood, paper and metal which helps us understand more about  plastics. We also played an activity that will give us more information on plastic. The activity we played was about looking around the class and trying to look for the different materials that we could see. The most interesting fact I learned was that every year 17 billion rubbish are thrown into the water.

We summed up an answer then we  simplified the answers to make it easier to understand and explain what's happening. We created a DLO with our algebraic equations but we had to make the question unbalanced so that Mr Fisiah could make it balanced, we had to create for Mr Fisiah . I really enjoyed working with my partner and my group to answer the questions we’re trying to solve. These tasks and questions help us understand and explain what Algebra is.  We also learned how to balance the animals to make it equal and even.

Scale drawing

LI: to learn how to scale draw with Mrs Kirkpatrick

This week Mrs Kirkpatrick came into our class and she taught us how to scale draw, this linked into maths becuase we learnt about X axis and Y axis and we used multiplication skills to enlarge our grid and measurements.  the first step to start our scale drawing was to find the horizontal center of our piece of small paper and draw a line down the middle and second step was to find our vertical center then draw a line down the middle, we then had to measure line that are spaced out my 1cm we had to create those line horizontal and vertical to great our grid.

We then had to count the squares from the top of the paper and count the squares on the side of the paper. we then had to multiply the amount of squares we had to get our area to create the larger grid we had to then draw lines spaced out by 2cm in both direction horizontal and vertical once we did that we could start drawing our character.
