The tutors that we had this week were, Andrea and Rebecca. As you may know this week we were just focusing on the main aspects of AFL and how it runs. Next week we would be playing the actual game AFL using the skills we learnt in the sessions.

water safety

LI: to learn water safety

today was your last day of water safety lessons and we were wearing life jackets and it was harder to swim in them because they kept making us float up. the first thing we did when we got into the water was we made a train we had to hold on to the life jacket from another person and we had to kick in the water to move . and then after that we learnt the H.E.L.P position it was were we pulled our knees to our chest and we warped our arms around our legs and stay floating with the life jacket on. We got out of the pools and we stood on the wall of the pools and do a pencil dive. When you dive into the water we had to use our arms to hold onto the life jacket and use the other arm to hold our head and then we jump while we jump we have to bend out legs when we go in.

streamlines. To learn how to do streamlines your hands had to be together and
kick your way to the platform that was under the water. Next we did arm circles
to do it we had to make our arms go around like circles and while doing that swing your
arms up and down, kick your way to the platform. Then we did bounce and
breathe. We went to the deep side. When we go in we have to go in and then
bounce back out, keeping doing that until you get to the platform.

LI: to learn how to play Ki o Rahi

Today for Kiwi Sport we learnt how to play the game ki o Rahi first we all got into to teams and we had to wear rippa tags to play the game and we also had to use the ki and then we started playing the game. and we had a kicker to start the game and they had to kick it into Pawero, and if they do not catch it or not kick properly it is a handover and the taniwha team had to try score by throwing the Ki at the tupu, and to stop that the kaitiaki has to make sure the ki does not touch the tupu. If the Kaitiaki catches the Ki then they throw it out to their team members the kioma team out in Te Au. Kiome scores trys by touching as many Po and they have to try not get ripped by the taniwha team when they touch the po and to score in pawero. We had gotten separated into two teams, one team is the red team and the other is the blue team. The red team won 11 to 6

when we learnt about the different places on the field. We then had to listen to the kiwi sport leader so if she said Tupu then we have to got to the Tupu. Ki o Rahi Kiwi Sport

LI: To learn the origin and basics about Ki o Rahi.

Today for Kiwi Sport we learned about the legend of ki o Rahi and then we played the games that will help us get the skills to play Ki o Rahi and we also watched a video about that story of Ki o Rahi we also learned about all the people in the story.

Then we played Two games they were called 8 passes rats and rabbits and the first game that we played was rats and rabbits the point of the game was to listen carefully so when the coach says rabbits then all the people on the rabbit team has to run to one end of the court and the other team has to try and tag the rabbit team.

and then after that game we had a short break and then we played another game it was called 8 passes the objective of the game was to pass the ball to our team and when we pass the ball to our team 8 times then that means we get one point and the other team has to try and get the ball of the other team and if one team drops that ball then we have to hand over the ball to the opposing team.

it was really fun learning new skills and also learning about the legend of Ki o Rahi.
