SLJ Week 1 Activity 3

LI: To create your own comic strip of an imaginary conversation.

My comic strip shows the conversation I imagine these two people had after one of the men had sneezed his teeth into the sea during a fishing trip. That task was to watch a video and turn it into a comic strip and try to imagine what they are saying by using the comic strip template. I found this activity fun becuase I got to be creative becuase I imagined what they were saying by just watching the video that had no words in it.

  1. Hi Juel,
I really liked reading your blog post today! I liked the way you have portrayed the story in your own words. I think after reading your comic I can imagine the story in more detail. The video and article was helpful for me as they explained what to do. My favourite character was Janet and the taxi driver as they were the one who made twist in the story. Who was your favourite character throughout the story?
    Keep up the great work!

    2. Kia ora Juel,

Thank you for taking time to answer my question. I really appreciate it! I agree, they made the story more funnier. My favourite part in the story was when Mr. Stoop drops his teeth and Mr. Slamat started laughing. I don't know why but the situation and his laugh made me laugh as well. Have you read a comic before? If yes, do you have a favourite one? If no, who is your favourite character in a book or novel? and why?

I am looking forward to your reply!

  3. Kia Ora Juel!

Its great to see you completing the Summer Learning Journey Activities! Your comic strip is well written and it honestly gave me a few laughs. My favorite bit is when after one of the characters teeth fell out the other character started to tease him a bit. The dialogue between the two characters makes me understand that you have a creative mind!

If you were one of the 2 characters in this story, which one do you prefer yourself to be? Like, which character would you most likely relate to and why?

Keep up your great work throughout the Summer!

  4. Kia ora Juel, my name is Elle and I’m from the Summer Learning Journey team.

Well done on completing the Fishy False Teeth activity!

I really like the way that you have made the slides easy to follow, and that you included the article that the comic is based on! Your story made me laugh and I really like that you used your imagination to interpret the interaction in your own way. My favourite part is when he sneezed, it definitely looks like he’s pulling a sneeze face doesn’t he?

Do you think these two men are friends or family? I think they could be brothers; they have very similar facial expressions!

Well done on your comic and keep up the great work, I can’t wait to see more!

    Ngā mihi,
    Elle (SLJ)

    1. Mōrena Juel, you are most welcome - you ask great questions!

Thank you for sharing your favourite character with me. I like to tease my little brothers too, in a friendly way though, of course!

I had braces for almost four years, and they were easy to wear, but not the most comfortable at times! Because braces are designed to shift your teeth around to make them straight, it puts a lot of pressure on them, which meant whenever I got them tightened I could only eat soft foods like ice cream (woohoo!). But they were definitely worth it!

Wow, you have been very active on your blog Juel, well done! It’s so awesome to see you getting involved in the SLJ activities, so keep it up!

      Ngā mihi,
      Elle (SLJ)
