Duffy role model assembely

LI: To understand why reading is important

Today we had a duffy asembaly and a man Marc Duffy came and talked to PBS and told us about how reading was important and how he now values it. Marc told us how he struggled with school and had trouble with reading but some years passed and now he is working for one of the migest companies in New zealand. I found his really good to learn from becuase I liked how he told us about how reading can have an important impact on our lives

Key Competencies

LI: To compare the Key Competencies we think we will use on camp and the Key Competencies we actually used.

Before we went to camp our challenge was to think about when we might use the Key Competencies as we faced the challenges.  When we came back from camp we looked at this and compared how we thought we would use the Key Competencies and how we actually used them.

I found this activity exciting because because I got to reflect on how I have developed confidence and risk taking from this small proportion in camp.

Te reo challenges

 LI: To learn Maori names

For our te reo maori challenge we were asked to find the place for the names that are listed and translate them into english and also find them on the map. This map is shocasing the places that were listed. This task was to help improve our Maori by learn the Moari and english names of placees In New Zealand

I really enjoyed this task becuase it was good to learn more Te reo by learning place names in Maori and english.

Brochure

LI: To a collaborative brochure that tells others why Kokako Lodge is a great place to go on camp

Over the last week everyone challenged themselves during the sessions at archery, high ropes, kayaking, raft building, camp cooking, pancake race and team building/orienteering. Our group collaborated to create a brochure that shows others why Kokako Lodge is a great place to go on camp. This broshure show is a sort of adivertisment that we are making about the Kokako Lodge camp and that shows all the activites and also talks about the catering and the cabins.

I faound this activity fun to do becuase it was fun to create an advertisment for the Kokao lodge and was fun to create so that people want to go to Kokako Lodge.

Camp Collage

LI: To create a collage of your camp highlights

This week LS2 have been celebrating our camp. I created this collage to show my time at camp and the activities I enjoyed. To make my collage effective I thought about the size of the images, the angle of the images and I tried hard not to leave any gaps between the photos. In my collage I overlapped some images and tried not to cover lots of the photos so that you could see what is happening in the photos. This collage is about my camp journey and shows photos of me and my cabin group or activity group and also shows some of the things that we did during the activites.

I really enjoyed this activity becuase I really liked looking at what my group and I was doing and looking at the different activites that I did.

5 minute of camp

LI: To recount a 5 minute snapshot of one experience you had at camp

Last week we went to camp at Kokako Lodge. My 5 minute snapshot shows my personal voice and I have tried hard to paint a picture with my words to describe what I was doing and how I felt. This 5 minute of camp is about me going up on the high beam. The task was to writie a recount thats about five minutes that paints a vivid image of what I am doing my writing about how I felt during this activity.

I really enjoyed this activity becuase it was fun to think about how I felt while doing some of the activites and it was also fun to becuase it was fun to try and make the recount suspesful and interesting to read about.

Kokako Infographic

LI: To create an infographic using google draw that tells your audience facts about the kokako.

This week, LS2 has received a set of tasks to complete based around out camp for 2021.

Using our smart searching skills, we found information about the North Island Kokako bird. A North Island Kokako is usually large and are blue. An interesting fact we have found about the Kokako bird is that they can only fly 100 metres.

To see if the information we have gathered is true and reliable, we linked three different sources that have almost the same information about the Kokakos.

I found this activity fun because I found it interesting to learn about the North Kokako birds Diet, habitat, and apearance. It is also intereting to hear interesting facts about the Kokao bird
