Rolling thunder

Lightning never strikes twice, does it?

That was the question that occupied their frightened minds as they crouched, huddling together, next the pile of dusty sacks in the base of the windmill…

you’re probably wondering how we all got into the frightening situation, well it all started one morning when Vanessa and her two friends, Bryant & Jerall went into the village and they saw a young traveler that looked a bit older than them.  “do you have any stories to tell?” Jerall asked the traveler desperately.

The traveler told the story about the abandoned windmill that lived not too far from here. The windmill was abandoned becuase the old man who lived there noticed that every month huge thunderstorms would occur the thunder would strike once then a while longer would strike again and something would always needed to be repaired but because he did not have enough money to repair the windmill so he went into retirement and died a few years later and left  strange amulet behind that had a lighting symbol on it that when touched would make your hands burn.

The two kids were scared except for Vanessa. She did not believe the traveler  “How gullible can you guys get this is obviously a hoax” but inside she had started to believe the traveller. “Then how were they supposed to pick it up then?” Bryant asked cuiorsly “ They had to wear special gloves to pick it up. The traveller then took out a pair of gloves and the amulet that was mentioned in the story.

She then told her friends that we are going to go to the windmill tomorrow to see if thy story was really true? Vanessa then pulled out the amulet wearing the gloves Jerall and Bryant thought Vanessa was out of her mind but they agreed anyways to investigate the old windmill.

The next day Vanessa, Bryant and Jerall traveled up the hill.  Vanessa led them up the hill “up this way!” shouted Vanessa as they were walking up the hill. Vanessa wanted to confront the traveller, while Jerall and Bryant were still worried about Vanessa and were still scared from yesterday. They went on 1st of July because the storms would only occur every month.

They waited until night and they were all sitting apart from each other one the heard the wind howling they all slowly huddled together as it was getting cold they could hear the trees whistling they waited and waited Bryant was angry with Vanessa “we should never have come here into first place!” Bryant shouted at Vanessa “this is all your fa-” as Bryant was about to finish his sentence he was cut off by the huge thunder strike then huddled back with each other.

They were sitting next to a pile of old dusty sacks. “Let's build a wall out of the sacks to surround us” Jerall suggested. They then surrounded themselves with the sacks they then waited and waited then they heard the wind howling again but it was louder they then heard the trees whistling again and it was louder then the sounds began to die down and waited a while longer “I told and they heard for the next thunder strike Vanessa then took out the amulet and waited outside for the next thunderstorm “what are you doing?” Bryant said Vanessa didn’t say anything and waited for the next lighting strike then BANG! Bryant and Jerall couldn’t believe there eyes Vanessa was reflecting the thunder with the magical amulet “come on let's get back to the village!” Vanessa shouted to the others that carefully walked while still reflecting the lighting.  They were all frightened by what had happened then the amulet turned into ash then the magical amulet was not seen again and till that day there were no more thunderstorms

This week for writing we used the 5-7-10 to create a story. we used the pobble 365 sentence starter to start of our story. We had 5 minutes to write the beginning of our story then we have 7 minutes to talk to a friend to share ideas or give advice witch adds up to 14 minutes in total and 10 more minutes to finish off the story.
