ASB Getwise

LI: To be wise with your money

Today we worked with Marlon, Marlon told us all about how to make wise choices with money by watching how we spend money. Making smart choices with money means that you are being careful of what you spend and making sure that you have saved enough. To have a better understanding of this Marlon played a game with us. We got into groups of five, In the game we are given 1800 fake dollars and we must spend our money wisely on our trip to fiji. Our group counts as one whole person and we must pay for passport fees, Plane ticket, Accomodation, Travel Insurance, and activites. During this journey we learnt how to make wise choices with our money without being in debt and learnt how to budget money and make smart choices.

Moment in time

LI: To use the language features and structure of published poem to help use write our own poem.

We looked at the language features and structure of a poem called ‘A Moment in Time’ and used our experiences from camp to follow the structure and collaboratively create our own moment in time poem.
To describe what we heard, what we saw, how we felt and what we wondered we used our senses, adjectives and adverbs.
Ajectives are words that help describe and add more detail to our sentences
Adverbs are words that describe verbs such as the lady sat quietly in that sentence there are a combinations of verbs and adjectives where the adjective describes the verb.

Settings

LI: To use powerful words to describe a setting so that it paints a clear picture in the mind of the reader

A setting is the place, time and environment of a story to help a reader make a connection to your narrative you need to use your words in away that helps them form a picture of what you are describing in their mind.
To do this we looked at an image and thought of 10 words that described and showed what we could see. Once we had thought of the adjectives or adverbs we used our smart searching skills to help us find synoymns that made our descriptions clearer.

I found this interesting because it was fun to use powerful words or adjectives to make our statements more powerful by using word hippo to use powerful words to add to our paragraph.

Isaac Newton is a physicist, mathematician, theologian and a Astronomer. We were also required to create a DLO with the following questions: Why is his work important? What did he find out? How does his work connect to simple machines?

I found this interesting because it was really fun to learn about Sir Isaac Newtons research about physics and gravity and how to can benifit scientest nowdays.
