Making images relate to the text

LI: To create a DLO that explains why it is important to have images the connected to you information.

This week for cyber-smart I created a DLO that showcases good and bad examples of why it is important to use images that related to your information. This can be very important in making presentations or posters so that the images makes more scene and easier to understand when using the right image but if you are using a images that is irrelevant to the topic that this can confuse or could lead the reader of topic and will not get you message across.

Scale drawing

LI: to learn how to scale draw with Mrs Kirkpatrick

This week Mrs Kirkpatrick came into our class and she taught us how to scale draw, this linked into maths becuase we learnt about X axis and Y axis and we used multiplication skills to enlarge our grid and measurements.  the first step to start our scale drawing was to find the horizontal center of our piece of small paper and draw a line down the middle and second step was to find our vertical center then draw a line down the middle, we then had to measure line that are spaced out my 1cm we had to create those line horizontal and vertical to great our grid.

We then had to count the squares from the top of the paper and count the squares on the side of the paper. we then had to multiply the amount of squares we had to get our area to create the larger grid we had to then draw lines spaced out by 2cm in both direction horizontal and vertical once we did that we could start drawing our character.

Life Education

LI: To learn how to takes care of our bodies physically and mentally.

This week we had Life education with Nicole, we had 2 sessions with Nicole. The first session we had was about the four walls  of Hauora the health belief that is unique to New Zealand. We watched a video that explained what happens when one of the walls fall down, we used a jenga tower to show what will happen when some of the blocks are taken out. We then talked about how this can effect us when one of the walls fall down.  If the mental/emotional wall as fallen then we could feel sad and not talk to anyone and distance yourself then it could effect the other walls. We also talked about upstanders and bystanders, upstanders are people who stand up for what they believe in. bystanders are people who listen and are the opposite of a upstander. We also talked about how upstanders can help us feel better.

Session 2

We talked about drugs and how to keep our bodies healthy. We talked how takeing drugs can effect the way we think and can loose some brain cells. then we compared the effects of a vape and a cigarette, we learnt that the vape puts the miucuse from the vape into our lungs and smoking can hurt our lungs and make them turn black.

Science Main ideas

LI: to find the most vital ideas from the information to help us answer the question “What is science?”.

This DLO is identifying the ideas of science which we have learnt from the information we have gained. To find the vital information, we negotiated by collaborating and communicating with our team. We shared our opinions and ideas, we took notes and from them we selected and rejected information to get to our final conclusion.

For us the 3 main vital ideas are:
Science is the discovery of What, Why, and How events happen
The three main branches of science are Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
There are two main categories of science, and they are Basic and Applied Science

Science summary

LI: to summarise the information.

This DLO is highlighting our summary about what we know about science. In our groups, we have been sharing our ideas on posted notes and found the key words which we then wrote a summary about what science is. To then create a summary about the topic. We needed to skim and scan for key vocabulary to create this DLO. We also had to join our ideas together to create a more efficient idea.
We used our new question dice to help us construct some questions we want to find more about. The three questions we made using the dices were:

When did science start?
How will science progress in the future?
Who was the first scientist
