The Mind Lab

Electric cars.

In the mind lab kenza from the MOTAT helped us make electric cars we used motors and battery packs as the engine for the car and we also use some scrap pieces of cardboard for the body of the car and we also used skewers to hold up the wheels. when we were making the wheels we had to test that the wheels spun freely so that when we made our car it would move around.

Flash Lights

when we finished making our cars we then had to make a flash light using motor cogs and connective building parts. we were given a LED light and we had to use the motor so that it would turn of but there was a little cog that you had to spin and you had to spin it very fast just for a little flash of light.

Possums






LI: to identify the main ideas in the text.

we had to make DLOs about possums in New Zealand and possums in Australia because in New Zealand we hunt down possums because the ruin the environment and plants, and animals but in Australia they are not harmful to there environment. 








persuasion

LI: what is persuasion.
 we made a DLO about what persuasion is we had to also make images of what persuasion is. persuasion means to convince them to believe what you are saying is true and people can persuade for advertisement. Change someones mind or think the same as you. we also had to write down why we would want to persuade someone you can persuade some to do something or to take action.

Kiwi Sport


L.I To learn water safety skills.
Our first lesson for water safety was where we all answered what does someone look like when the are in danger and in the water we then floated on our backs and then put one fist up then shout out help. We then did  dolphin dives it is where you swim to the top of the pool then go down to the bottom and swim all the way to the end.
After that we did somersaults in the pool we had to pull our knees to our body then roll to the end of the pool. we then had to float on our stomach and we had to put our legs in front of us and then use our hands to push our legs back.

Kiwi Can

Our energizer was called silent disco  it was where we all got into groups of three and we all had to act out an emotion and the kiwi can leader had to try and guess what emotion we are acting out. we were learning about emotion that is why we played a game that can relate to emotions. we learnt how to see someones emotion through body langue or they could tell us how to fell about something.


Duffy Theater

The play was called stuck in the game it was about two cousin and one of them gets stuck inside of a game called magic bricks. they had to get him out but they did not know how so they tried many different ways then they found a book from there nana and they they didn't know what to do with it and they found that if they want to get out of the game they had to do there nana dance and then they would be out of the game.

Geometry



LI: to make names and describe polygons and other plane shapes

We are learning about different shapes and 2d and 3d shapes 2d shapes are flat on a table and 3d shapes are shapes the you can see from every angle. We made your own shapes using tooth picks and bluetack we connected the tooth pick with the bluetack so that we could make our shapes we made 2d and 3d shapes with tooth pick and bluetack. We then took photos of them and we typed down the name and how many sides, edges, and lines and also corners.

Basic Facts

LI: to practice learning our basic facts.
Today I had to  learn my basic facts so that we remember them we had to do the addition and subtraction box and we had to do all of them on this google sheet  basic facts

H.I.T High Intensity Interval Tranning

LI: To work out and stay healthy.

The first thing we did was push ups we had to put our knees on the ground and we had to push our body up we had to slightly go down and then come back up and do it again than our partner had to do the same thing. The next work was called mountain climbers we had to hold on to something and we had to try and get our knees touching our arms we had to do it very fast. then the last thing we did was pull ups we had to hold onto a stick and then pull our self up we had different grip we used them so that it could be easier for us to pull up our self. 

Neptune & Mars

LI: to investigate the likely of humanity living on the other planets in the Solar system.
This week Inquiry we had to make a presentation and show it for Inquiry. It was planets and if they can sustain life. The planets we did was Neptune and mars. Our last slide included the sources of information we got the information from. I would say that mars had the most information about the planet then Neptune. And had more right information and had more detailed pictures about the planet.


what Is a fraction



LI: To share equally

We had to explain what a fraction is and what a numerator and denominator are. we had to write definitions of what they mean and what they are. we had to make images of what a fraction is of with different numerators. we had to explain what a fraction is and explain why it is a fraction and why it is not a fraction. 

Constellations



LI: To use skimming, scanning, and summarising.

We are learning about different constellations and we are also making them in 3D with skewers and marshmallows the constellation me and my partner made was the Leo constellation. we had to find out different things about this constellation. like what are the stars that make up the constellation or what is the brightest star or how did this constellation get it's name.

Christmas Stolen





LI: To write a narrative in a form of a play. 


This was the last week of inquiry. For this task in writing we had to complete our play dialogue. For this task we had to work in our writing groups. Each group had done their own play. The first week that we started on this we had to come up with a play idea. Then we worked on our what was our play about and then how it was going to work out.


Then we had to write our orientation about the play. Next we had to write our characters for the play. Next we had to write what the characters are going to do. Next then we two week to learn and create dialogue.


Last thing we had to do was we had to pick colour for each character’s 

Very last thing was that we had to fix up any little mistake and our full play was complete for any group can do.

We had to make a poster of the things we like it could be about the places we like to go the food we like to eat or a person you like. like a family member or a game you like. we had to put an image of what we like and we had to write the Maori word for it.
