Hiwi the Kiwi Fishing for the future

LI: To be responsabile in the sea and when fishing.

Hiwi the Kiwi  came the Panmure Bridge we learnt from him today legal fish size this means we have to make sure that if we catch a small fish then it could be a baby fish and means you have to put it back and if it was a big fish then it could be a fish that can breed or have babies.

After that he taught us about life jackets and why they are important to wear you need to wear them so if you drown it keeps you floating and not sinking and drowning. And he also told us a story of a man who was not wearing a life jacket and he drowned.

He also told us about plastic in the sea if we leave plastic or rubbish in the sea then birds who fly over the sea might think they are fish. and might eat it and the plastic could get stuck in there throat. He told us a story of a all black bird the was washed up the sea dead and some people cut opened it's stomach and found a bottle cap of a bottle in side.

He Talked to us about when you are picking up fish Hiwi said that if you use your hands some of it's scales will come of and if you do that and then throw it in the water the fish could die that's why you have to use a wet cloth cause this does not affect the fish and the fish does not die.

And last was have salt ice he said that if you catch a fish then you should put it into some salt ice it's just ice mixed with some salt and this stops the fish from going bad.

we also listened to the Minstrel play songs and tell us stories about how we can keep the fish and ocean safe we also did some challenges and he also asked us some questions about the sea.
